Philosophy

The parents are the first and foremost caregiver of a child. Together, with the parents and the staff of Panorama Ridge Children's Centre, we will provide an environment for children to learn and grow through social, emotional, intellectual and creative experiences. Each child develops individually at his/her own pace. Nurturing, security, guidance, encouragement, learning through Montessori & Reggio Emilia, all play a major role in a child’s development. Programming at the Centre will be developed to enhance each child’s individual goals.

The program is a unique blend of Montessori, Reggio Emilia and Phonics which allows each child to benefit from a variety of concepts and activities.

  • Montessori is a method of education that is based on self-directed activity, hands-on learning and collaborative play. In Montessori classrooms children make creative choices in their learning, while the classroom and the teacher offer age-appropriate activities to guide the process.

  • The Reggio Emilia philosophy is an approach to teaching, learning and advocacy for children. Teachers record these observations to reflect on developmentally appropriate ways to help children expand their academic and social potentials. Long term projects connect core academic areas in and out of the classroom.

  • The Phonics program helps us teach your child to read with colourful and interactive stories, with aids that make learning fun and easy. Our program is structured and tailored for each child’s capacity to learn and grow. It includes letters, numbers, concepts, phonics, art, math, science, reading, music and movement, and a lot more. It’s a great way of preparing your child for kindergarten.

Goals

• To provide a variety of experiences for the children to develop socially, physically, emotionally, creatively, and cognitively.

• To provide a safe, clean, and healthy environment.

• To respect each child and family as unique individuals.

• To work closely through communication with parents/guardians of each child.
